Our new book is here: The ‘Toolbox Leading Change’ (publication date 28 February 2025) from Schäffer-Poeschl Verlag! I will be talking about this special moment with my colleague Silke. You are cordially invited to listen, discover and browse.
We will talk about the process of creating the book and the many tried-and-tested tools it contains. But that’s not all! In addition to exciting insights into the writing process and our consulting practice, practical tips await anyone working in change processes.
Why another book on change and leadership?
Quite simply, because we offer you a toolbox for complex changes – a gap that previous tools do not close, as they are usually only suitable for simple change projects.
But there was another impulse: Schäffer-Poeschel Verlag (which also published Frank Wippermann’s book ‘Future Skills for Leadership and Organisation’) approached us with the idea of compiling a kind of ‘best of flow tools’ – an offer that we were happy to take up. And it turned into a real team project: seven consultants from flow Consulting compiled their best practices and bundled them into this ‘toolbox’. The variety of tried and tested approaches reflects our daily work and makes the book a valuable companion for consultants, facilitators and managers alike. Depending on the situation and your needs, you will find the right tools in a targeted manner and without having to search for them. This book is aimed at anyone who actively shapes change management, moderation or organisational development. You will not only find tried and tested methods, but also new ideas and food for thought. Because change requires not only structure, but also creativity.
What can you expect?
A clear structure: Which tool suits the current challenge in the change process?
- Practical step-by-step instructions: How are the methods applied effectively?
- Case studies, clear graphics and moderation tips: To facilitate access and application.
- In-depth information on our iterative change management approach: To encourage you to experiment.
- A free sample (in German language): Not only here, but of course also on our homepage.
Whether it’s about guiding a team through a difficult phase, opening up new perspectives or initiating sustainable change – the tools offer a wide range of possible applications. The book invites you not only to use familiar methods, but also to try out new approaches and explore creative avenues.
Which methods are described in the Leading Change toolbox?
From the change navigator to ‘Back to the future’ – there are 37 tried-and-tested methods for reducing ambiguity, creating acceptance, increasing effectiveness and establishing routines. In this podcast episode, Silke and I share our personal favourites such as:
- ‘Case views’ – a method for including different perspectives in decisions,
- ‘Back to the future’ – a reflection method with amazing insights for teams and especially new leaders in these teams,
- and ‘Change Attitudes’ – a method that emphasises that there is no one way to design and implement change projects.
We also provide valuable tips on how these tools can be adapted and expanded to suit specific contexts. Because every team and every organisation has its own dynamics – and this is precisely where the methods come in.
