More Information

At a glance: effort, costs and benefits of EEW funding

With federal funding for energy and resource efficiency in industry (EEW), you can receive support for the development of a transformation plan. Up to €60,000 of the eligible costs for analysis and concept development are subsidised. We take care of the technical details and guide you from the initial idea to the eligible application.

What additional costs will you incur?

You designate a contact person and provide some basic data on consumption, facilities and planned investments. We take care of the preparation, application and coordination with the funding agency. Your internal effort is usually only a few hours, spread over several weeks.

What will it cost you?

The suitability assessment is free of charge for you. We work with clearly defined flat rates for the creation of the transformation plan, which are fully eligible for funding within the scope of the project. If no eligible application is submitted, you will not incur any costs – meaning you bear no financial risk.

What’s in it for you?

They permanently reduce energy and resource costs, often in the five to six-figure range per year, and measurably improve your carbon footprint. At the same time, you strengthen your profile as a sustainable, responsible company in the eyes of customers, employees and investors. In short: a project that pays off – and one you can be proud of.

Energy Efficiency Act from 2026: Benefit twice now

By 2026 at the latest, the Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG) will become mandatory for many companies: those with an average total energy consumption of more than 7.5 GWh per year will be required to demonstrate that they have an energy or environmental management system (EMAS or ISO 50001) in place.

From as little as 2.5 GWh per year, implementation plans for economically feasible final energy saving measures must be drawn up and published – including external auditing.

We can take the statutory EnEfG audit directly into account in your transformation plan: if you are revising your climate and efficiency strategy anyway, we will design the transformation plan to be EnEfG-compatible: with an implementable roadmap of measures, economic efficiency assessment and verifiable documentation – so that you can be sure of meeting the relevant requirements from 2026 onwards.

How it works – 3 steps to funding

Step 1: Free subsidy check
You will receive a well-founded assessment of your eligibility for subsidies, as well as an initial draft strategy and specific recommendations for further action.

Step 2: Funding concept & application
Based on your basic information, we will prepare the application documents for approval.

Step 3: Implementation & subsidy
Together, we implement the measures and prepare the reports necessary for the subsidy to be paid out.

Case Study »WKT Prefabricated insulation materials«

From initial idea to six-figure savings and 85% less CO2 in Scope 1 and 2 in 12 months

Initial situation

WKT-Letsch Produktions- und Handels GmbH in Hanau is a medium-sized specialist in ready-made insulation materials. Managing Director Stefan Kigele wanted to consistently expand the company’s sustainability – with a clear plan that both strengthens competitiveness and makes a measurable contribution to climate targets.

The initial focus was on energy and resource efficiency within the company itself. Building on this, further topics along the value chain followed, such as the use of more sustainable materials and circular product approaches.

Procedure

Development of a company-wide sustainability strategy and establishment of an interdisciplinary sustainability team. Subsequently, implementation of a thorough analysis of the current situation: energy consumption, use of materials, waste generation, processes and supply chain. Identification of specific savings potential and prioritisation of measures. The highlight: modern workshop and participation formats were used to involve employees in the development of new products and processes. This led to a high level of identification and responsibility on the part of those involved and, as a result, to the effective implementation of the measures decided upon:

  • Conversion of heat supply and parts of the vehicle fleet to renewable energies
  • Expansion of photovoltaic systems and storage systems
  • Introduction of intelligent energy management
  • Reduction of waste and material consumption in production and logistics
  • Systematic review of the supply chain and preparation of a supplier code of conduct
  • Development of climate-adapted and circular product solutions, including testing of alternative insulation materials based on renewable materials

Results

  • Significant cost savings in the six-figure range already in the first year.
  • Reduction of waste volume by around 40%.
  • Reduction of CO₂ emissions by approx. 85% in Scope 1 and 2 and by around 60% in Scope 3.
  • Increased productivity: New, highly automated systems double production output with the same personnel and energy input and halve material waste.
  • New renewable product solutions that further improve the carbon footprint.
  • Strengthening innovation and collaboration: Design thinking is now an integral part of organisational and product development.
  • Transparency in everyday life: An energy management system and CO₂ monitoring software make savings continuously visible and controllable.
  • Anchoring in the organisation: The sustainability strategy is anchored in management and the workforce; WKT has positioned itself as a pioneer and established new partnerships with universities and customers.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

In principle, all private, municipal and state-owned companies in industry, trade, commerce and services, freelancers and contractors are eligible for funding. The prerequisite is that they have a place of business or branch office within Germany.

Municipalities and cities as part of the public administration, as well as their state-owned and municipal enterprises, companies whose shares are predominantly (> 50%) held by the federal government (federal public enterprises), and agricultural businesses are excluded from EEW funding.

Upon request, we can take care of the entire application process, liaise with the funding body and prepare all relevant proof of use documents. We guarantee a transparent flow of information, clarify critical issues and advise you on decisions.

Funding is provided in the form of partial financing through a non-repayable grant. The funding rate is 40% of eligible costs for large companies, 50% for medium-sized companies and 60% for small companies. The maximum funding amount for a transformation plan is €60,000. Here are the thresholds for company sizes according to the EU definition:

Small enterprises – 60% funding rate

  • Number of employees: fewer than 50
  • Annual turnover: maximum €10 million
  • or annual balance sheet total: maximum €10 million

Medium-sized enterprises – 50% funding rate

  • Number of employees: fewer than 250
  • Annual turnover: maximum €50 million
  • or annual balance sheet total: maximum €43 million

Large enterprises – 40% funding rate

  • Enterprises that exceed the thresholds for medium-sized enterprises are considered large enterprises.

For companies that are registered with and actively participate in a network of the Initiative for Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection Networks (IEEKN), the subsidy rate increases by 10 percentage points and the maximum possible subsidy increases to €90,000. However, this step is not worthwhile for all companies. We would be happy to advise you individually on this matter.

We work in a way that allows us to integrate into your busy working day. You provide basic information and ensure that the relevant people participate in the workshop. Beyond that, we can take care of most of the tasks for you, especially the extensive reporting requirements.

The project and funding period usually lasts between 9 and 12 months. During this time, we work with you to develop your transformation concept. We plan the implementation according to your wishes, either in parallel with or following the funding period.

No, EEW funding is a non-repayable grant. As long as the funds are used for their intended purpose and the necessary evidence is provided, the funding does not have to be repaid.

The payment of subsidies is not linked to the result. The expected savings to be stated in the subsidy application are well-founded forecasts, not ‘guaranteed values’. The decisive factor is that the agreed measures are implemented as applied for.

No. We work this out with you – including an analysis of the current situation, CO₂ balance and transformation path.

Yes, it is often possible to combine several locations or plants into one overall concept. As part of the order clarification process, we examine which of your locations can be meaningfully integrated and to what extent.

Only after receipt of the official funding notification. We design the project process so that you can get started seamlessly without jeopardising your funding.
